How to cleanse and charge crystals
Over time a crystal soaks up the energy around it. Cleanse and charge it now and then. Choose a method that suits the stone — not every stone tolerates water or sun.
Water
Good for hard quartzes: amethyst, clear quartz, rose quartz. Beware: water damages selenite, malachite and soft stones.
Smoke
White sage or palo santo safely clears any stone. Pass the crystal through the smoke and let go of what you no longer need.
Moon
A full moon suits every stone. Place the stones on a windowsill. Moonlight charges gently and harms no stone.
Sun
Morning sun adds strength to carnelian, citrine and pyrite. Beware: amethyst, rose quartz and ametrine fade in direct sun.
